The Alpena High boys basketball team has been unable to shake their current losing streak and Friday night, things didn’t get any better for the Wildcats as a slow start proved to be costly as Alpena dropped its seventh straight game, falling to Gaylord (6-4, 1-4) in the teams’ annual ‘Pink Game’ by a final of 56-38 in a battle between a pair of teams searching for their first Big North Conference victory of the year.
The Wildcats(2-9. 0-4 BNC) only managed to score two points in the opening quarter, falling behind and were unable to muster enough offense as the shots wouldn’t fall and the Blue Devil defense clamped down, making life difficult for the Wildcats on their home court.
A 21 point second half was not nearly enough for Alpena as the Wildcats continue to struggle on both ends of the court and nothing has been going right during their recent skid.
Tucker Bright paced Alpena, scoring a team high 11 points and was the lone Wildcat in double figures on the night.
Alpena’s next chance to snap the lengthy losing streak will be when the Wildcats return to the court on Tuesday and welcome Sault Ste. Marie at 7:00 p.m.
