Motorists paying more at the pumps

AAA of Michigan says elevated oil prices have pushed pump prices higher.

The auto club says the new statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is about $3.72, up nine cents over the week.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA found the cheapest price for gas in Benton Harbor where it’s about $3.61 per gallon. The highest price of $3.78 was found in both metro Detroit and Ann Arbor.

Drivers in the Alpena area are also paying more at the pumps. As of early Tuesday morning, a gallon of regular unleaded fuel was averaging about $3.58, up 231 cents from one week ago.
