Leo Michael Kuznicki, 91, of Alpena passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, surrounded by his family at MyMichigan Medical Center – Midland.
Leo was born January 2, 1932, in Posen, Michigan to the late Peter and Bernice (Woloszyk) Kuznicki. He served in the United States Army as a sergeant in the tank battalion in the Korean War.
On October 8, 1955, he married Virginia Koseba. Leo worked as a heavy equipment operator for several years before going to work at Ball Tire & Gas where he then retired from in 1995.
Leo was a member of Alpena VFW Post 2496 and St. Anne Catholic Church. He was a very hardworking man and enjoyed farming and raising cattle, working in the woods, and hunting. Leo was the ultimate handyman and enjoyed fabricating with metal and building things. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia; four children, Dorothy (Chuck) VanKeuren, Paul Kuznicki, Rick (Bonnie) Kuznicki, Joe (Lisa) Kuznicki; grandchildren, Kristen, Casey, Cody, Josh, Aleisha; great grandchildren, Aiden, Colt, Stella; and sister, Martha Krajnik.
Leo was preceded in death by brothers, Benedict Jerome Kuznicki and Stanley Kuznicki.
Memorial visitation will take place Friday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Aloysius Okpala officiating followed by military honors accorded him by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496.
