The Alpena County personnel committee Tuesday, recommended additional employee raises for 2023.
All non-union and elected employees would receive a 5% raise in the new year.
The sheriff and undersheriff would receive the same amount following a discussion on their sizeable salary adjustments in June, of 25% and 16.5% respectively.
Raises for the airport manager and assistant manager were tabled until County Administrator Mary Catherine Hannah can collect salaries of other airport managers at similar-sized facilities.
The only non-union and elected employees who were not recommended for raises were the drain commissioner and county commissioners themselves.
The wage increases will be voted on for final approval by the full board of commissioners later this month. The raises were already factored into the proposed 2023 fiscal year budget, which includes a projected deficit of approximately $1.45 million.
In January of this year, commissioners approved raises for all union employee groups that started at 6% and climbed higher, along with benefit enhancements in many cases.
