Thunder Bay Arts Council is holding another scarecrow building contest this year, along with family fun events that will be held the same afternoon as the Alpena Downtown Development Authority’s (DDA) Chili Chowder Cook Off and Sunrise Suds Tap Takeover.
Individuals, families, organizations, and businesses are encouraged to join the competition by registering a scarecrow with the arts council at 989-356-6678. Completed scarecrows must be delivered to the council on October 6. They will then be displayed throughout downtown and voted on by residents on October 7.
Various $100 gift certificates will be handed to winners.
Also on October 7, families will enjoy fresh apple cider and donuts while participating in pumpkin painting, chalk art and other events in downtown, from noon to 3 p.m.
