Alpena High runners do well at N. Michigan XC Championship

PRESS RELEASE FORM ALPENA PUBLIC SCHOOLS:

The AHS XC team raced to some impressive results Saturday morning in Gaylord at the Northern Michigan XC Championship.

The AHS women placed 4th out of 13 teams in the large school division, while the men finished in 5th.

Against some of the top runners in the north, Emma Dickins ran to a career best time of 19:14, placing second overall. Emma stuck with the lead pack of runners made up of athletes from Traverse City West, Traverse City Central and Gaylord through 2-1/2 miles then was able to out race all but one competitor to the finish line. Emma’s outstanding time moved her up to #6 all time in the AHS record book.

Other medalists were Kaelyn Heath who finished in 16th with a season best 20:53and Amelia Roznowski with a huge career best time of 21:26 and a 25th place finish.

Medaling for the men were Elijah Allen who came up big with a 9th place 16:47, Hunter Hitzelberger who raced to a 17:26 time in 16th place and Kenan Knight who ran an impressive 17:36 for a career best time in 19th place.
