Alpena boys tennis falls to Petoskey, girls golf competes at BNC Invitational

The Alpena tennis team fell to Petoskey by a score of 7-1 on Wednesday. Finn Williams and Zack Cloft were winners at No. 1 doubles to record the Wildcats’ lone victory.

Alpena tied Harbor Springs 4-4 last Thursday, August 31st. Johnny Bender won at No. 1 singles 6-2, 1-6 , and 10-6.  Landen Gagnon won at No. 3 singles 6-3 and 6-3.  Finn Williams and Nathan Pokorzynski were victorious at No. 1 doubles 6-2 and 6-2 and the team of Josh Nystrom and Charles Renard at No. 2 doubles won 7-6, 0-6 and 10-7.

The Alpena girls golf team finished in seventh place out of 10 Varsity teams at Petoskey’s Big North Conference Invitational last Thursday afternoon with a team score of 418. Sydney Silver led the team with a 98. Grace Bouchard shot 101; Jami Richards shot 106; Katie Bushey shot 113; Lilly Gembel shot 115; Ella McKenny shot 127. The Alpena JV team also competed in Petoskey last Thursday, finishing fifth of six JV teams. Josephine Cabana led the JV squad with a 109; Alivia Garrow shot 115; Faith Dragewicz shot 120; Brook Schroeder shot 124 and Liliana Tolan shot 135.
