Today is Veterans Day – a day devoted to the men and women of the U.S. armed forces and those killed in battle.
The Alpena Municipal Council this week, adopted a resolution that authorized the city to adopt the Articles of Incorporation for the Northeast Michigan Materials Management Authority, which will be taking over the operation of the Resource Recovery Facility in Alpena January 1.
Thursday’s record-setting temperatures will be a distant memory after this weekend, when colder than normal temps blanket the region, along with lake-effect snow in some areas.
City of Alpena firefighters were back at the Decorative Panels International (DPI) plant shortly before 7 o’clock last night, after a fire in the “dryer area” caused thick smoke to pour into nearby neighborhoods.
A total of 92 calls for help were phoned into the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office last week.
The annual angel pinning tradition at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena continues. In addition, volunteers are once again hosting an annual Koeze nut sale and raffle.
