Wolverine man busted for 3rd drunk driving after forcing truck off road

A 39 year-old Wolverine man was arrested for his third drunk driving offense last week, after police saw him force another motorist off the road as he traveled in the wrong lane of traffic.

The Michigan State Police was sent to Straights Highway, north of Wolverine Thursday afternoon, on a report of a white van driving erratically.

A trooper witnessed the van force a pickup truck off the road to avoid a head-on collision as the van traveled northbound in the southbound lane of traffic.

The trooper then pulled the van over and after administering sobriety tests placed the driver, Joseph Buck-Allen Stavig, under arrest.

Stavig was arraigned in Cheboygan County District Court Monday, for operating while intoxicated third offense, and driving while license suspended/denied/revoked. Bond was set at $25,000. Stavig is due back in court Thursday.
