A tax foreclosure land auction will be next month that features vacant parcels, homesteads and lake properties in Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Oscoda counties.
The annual sale is held to dispose of tax delinquent properties the counties took legal possession of after previous owners failed to pay their property taxes for 2018.
Alpena County needs to recoup $25,455.79 to make itself whole on lost property taxes from 14 parcels. That includes eight vacant lots, three trailer homes, a fixer upper house, and two move in ready homes, including one in the City of Alpena.
“Property owners appear to be holding their own very well,” said Kim Ludlow, county treasurer. “Not only are the foreclosures, but the number of properties currently in forfeiture is down as well.”
There are 16 properties up for grabs in Alcona County, including nine vacant parcels. There are eight properties available in Montmorency County, including four mobile homes and three small houses. No information is available yet on the Oscoda County parcels.
Information on properties headed to the auction block, including descriptions, photographs, and minimum bid amounts, can be viewed at tax-sale.info. The land auction will be held online only on Thursday, August 12, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the same website.
