APS hires asst. principals for high school

PRESS RELEASE FROM ALPENA PUBLIC SCHOOLS:

Jesse Pattison and Mike Buchinger will be our Assistant Principals at Alpena High School starting in the 2021-2022 school year.

Jesse will move up from his Dean position, where he has worked for the past three years, bringing a strong understanding of the current system at AHS.

He knows our staff and students and is excited to be in his new role as an Assistant Principal. He was a math and science teacher for seven years before coming to AHS and is well known as a student advocate and staff supporter. He is eager to start and is already sharing great ideas for next year. I am so excited for his promotion and to continue to build a successful collaborative team.

Mike is not new to APS, but will be new to AHS. Mike is joining us from Oscoda High School where he served as an Assistant Principal for two years as well as the Athletic Director/Assistant Principal for 2021. Mike has worked in K-12 Special Education in Alaska and Northeastern Michigan (Thunder Bay Junior High) and adds principal experience to our new team at AHS. He is happy to return to Alpena and will be working closely with our new Restorative Center and APS as we continue our implementation of Restorative Practices. He is big on building relationships with students and brings a huge knowledge base from his Special Education training.

Welcome Jesse and Mike! We’re thrilled to have you as part of our AHS team!
