No. of complaints up at Montmorency sheriff’s office

The number of complaints filed with the Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office was up substantially last week.

The department took 100 calls for help.

Last Wednesday someone called 911 and said his brother was involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident and was experiencing a medical issue. But the two men left the scene before police and an ambulance showed up.

Later that night deputies were sent to Hillman Village for a dispute. All parties were separated for the night.

A car caught fire shortly after midnight Sunday on Mary Ann Street in Albert Township. The flames were extinguished and no one was hurt. A resident of the same township called police later that night to report their neighbor was drunk and outside harassing them. Deputies responded and told the man to stay inside his apartment.

And an Albert Township resident called police at 11 p.m. Sunday after someone broke his window at Oak Leaf Manor Apartments in Lewiston. That investigation is ongoing.

Deputies made one arrest for drunk driving over the week, and picked up two other people on outstanding warrants.
