Cheboygan woman killed in motorcycle crash

A 42 year-old Cheboygan woman was killed Sunday, when the operator of the motorcycle she was riding on lost control of the bike and crashed.

The accident happened on I-75 around noon Sunday, south of Saginaw and closer to Bridgeport.

Police said the motorcycle was headed north when traffic began to slow and the operator lost control and drove off the right side of the interstate. The Cheboygan woman was transported to an area hospital where she died of injuries sustained in the crash.

The operator, a 55 year-old man from Cheboygan, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

The couple was not wearing helmets and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. Witnesses are asked to contact the Michigan State Police Tri-City Post at 989-495-5555.
