An annual Alpena countywide clean-up day is being held at the fairgrounds on May 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
County residents will be able to drop off items like refrigerators and other appliances, furniture, mattresses and car and truck tires at no charge.
No household garbage or hazardous waste will be accepted.
Businesses are required to obtain a recycle permit, which can be purchased at the Alpena Resource Recovery Facility on M-32 west.
Up to 10 car and truck tires can be dropped off for free. There is a $1 charge for tires on rims and a $2 charge for each tire beyond 10. Residents can also drop off one tractor tire at no cost.
People with a small load should drop off items from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; and those with a large load between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help during the collection. Interested persons should call 354-2607.
