MI gas prices highest since Oct. 2019

Gas prices in Michigan are at the highest level since October 2019.

AAA says the new statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is about $2.64, up 17 cents over the week.

The new average is also up 35 cents from this time last month and 15 cents more than this time last year.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA found the most expensive gas in Marquette and Jackson where it’s about $2.65 per gallon. The least expensive gas at $2.58 was found in Traverse City.

As of early Tuesday morning, motorists in the Alpena area were paying an average of about $2.63 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, up 27 cents from one week ago.

AAA says that the recent unprecedented winter weather has crippled Gulf Coast refineries, sending gas prices soaring nationwide.
