Police have finally determined who they believe is responsible for breaking into a home in Alpena last winter.
A woman on Michigan Avenue called police on February 3, 2020 to report the break in.
She had been away from her house when the suspect allegedly walked through the front door and stole several items. She told investigators with the Michigan State Police that she believed she knew the person who committed the crime – 41 year-old Janae Elizabeth Marotta of Alpena.
A lengthy investigation ensued until troopers developed probable cause to execute a search warrant on Marotta’s home, where some of the stolen items were recovered.
Marotta has been charged with home invasion second degree. She is due back in court December 1.
