District Health Department No. 4 has reported the first COVID-19 death in Montmorency County.
An elderly man died of the virus.
“We wish to express our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends who have lost their loved one,” said Denise Bryan, Health Officer at DHD4. “This is a tragic reminder that COVID-19 continues to pose a serious threat to our community members.”
Bryan went on to say, “In this difficult time, it is critical that we protect each other, support each other, and work together to slow the spread of this virus. We urge residents to continue to follow the things we know work. Wear a mask, stay 6 feet away from others, limit your gatherings and wash hands regularly.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, health departments were reporting a total of 3 COVID deaths in Alcona County, 16 in Alpena, 15 in Cheboygan, 2 in Oscoda, 17 in Iosco and 1 in Presque Isle.
