IN LOCAL SPORTS FROM TUESDAY:

THE ALPENA HIGH SCHOOL BOY’S SOCCER TEAM GOT ITS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON IN THE BIG NORTH CONFERENCE, DEFEATING CADILLAC 1-0. THE WILDCATS ARE NOW 8-10 ON THE SEASON AND 1-7 IN CONFERENCE PLAY.

THE ALPENA HIGH GIRLS GOLF TEAM HAD A SOLID SHOWING AT A DIVISION 2 REGIONAL IN MT. PLEASANT. THE GIRLS TIED FOR 7TH PLACE OVERALL. KENNEDY ELLIS SHOT THE LOW ROUND FOR THE CATS WITH AN 86, GOOD ENOUGH TO QUALIFY FOR THE STATE FINALS, AND THE TOP SCORE AMONG INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS.

AND 4 ALCONA HIGH SCHOOL TIGERS EARNED ALL CONFERENCE HONORS DURING A NORTH STAR LEAGUE CROSS COUNTRY FINAL IN FAIRVIEW. THE RUNNERS INCLUDE CARTER UPPER, JANAE KIERZEK, KAREN SHARBONEAU AND SARA DECKER.
