Cancer doesn’t stop during a pandemic and neither does the Alpena Zonta Club, which will be holding the 14th annual Zonta Walks for Women event virtually.
The event is held annually to help combat breast cancer and promote early detection services.
The virtual event will be held Saturday, October 10, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. More information on the event, including registration, can be found on Zonta’s Facebook page.
All monies raised through this year’s event will be distributed to the group Friends Together for its breast cancer programs.
Zonta Walks for Women has raised over $250,000 since it inception in 2007, helping to enhance breast health services for thousands of women in the region.
Nearly 277,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, and an estimated 42,170 will die of the disease this year alone.
