A non-profit group providing support to cancer patients and their families across northeast Michigan is asking for your help to secure a $25,000 grant through an online contest of sorts.
Friends Together has been selected as one of 200 finalists for an opportunity to win a grant through a State Farm initiative called “Neighborhood Assist.”
Starting Wednesday, and continuing through October 2, the 40 entities that receive the most online votes will each receive a $25,000 award. Residents 18 years of age and older can vote up to 10 times a day at www.neighborhoodassist.com.
The top 40 vote getters will be announced by State Farm on November 4, at the same website.
Friends Together was started 24 years ago in Alpena by Judy Burns as a promise to her daughter that no one would experience cancer alone.
Burns says the mission of Friends Together is simple – “We Help People with Cancer in northeast Michigan. Support. Education. Transportation Assistance. A place to feel welcome. All programs and services are free to those in need.”
