Huron Pines, the nonprofit organization established in 1973 to conserve and enhance Northern Michigan’s natural resources, is hosting a free online workshop for residents who would like to learn more about invasive species.

The presentation will focus on four invasive shrubs that can be found in the area – Japanese barberry, glossy and common buckthorn and autumn olive.

Introductory information on where to find these species and how to identify them will be shared through a video tutorial ahead of the workshop. The live workshop will cover the specifics of how to properly inventory the different invasive shrub species and how to upload information like size and location to an online database.

The one-hour workshop will be presented over Zoom and will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interested residents can register at huronpines.org/events.
