The public library in Alpena is hosting a poetry walk and an online event for people who want to learn how to research the history of their property.

The self-guided poetry walk is being held in collaboration with the Susan Lane Foundation and the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan and will be held on the lawn of the museum starting Thursday and continuing through Monday, September 7.

A variety of Michigan poets will be featured as well as classical favorites. More information is available on the library’s website or Facebook page.

The webinar on how to research old properties will be held next Thursday, August 20, starting at 6 p.m. Learn how to investigate your building for clues on its age and design; and how to research your home’s paper trail, from Sanborn maps to city directories and tax records.

The educational presentation is free. Registration is required. For additional information visit the library’s website or Facebook page.
