A reconstruction project on Herron Road gets underway Monday, weather permitting, and will disrupt traffic for the next three weeks.

The Alpena County Road Commission is spending approximately $515,000 to repave 1.01 miles of the road.

The project includes earthwork, new asphalt surface, moderate grade corrections and drainage improvements. The construction area is located on Herron Road, between M-32 and Long Rapids Road, 500 feet south of Little Road to the Thunder Bay River.

Motorists will be detoured during construction and the road will be closed to all through traffic.

The project is expected to be completed by August 31.
