By all accounts, the board of trustees for Alpena Community College is pleased with the president of the institution.

Dr. Don MacMaster was praised by the board last week, during a public review of his annual performance evaluation.

Trustee Lisa Hilberg led the discussion and summarized the results by saying that under the leadership of MacMaster, ACC had an incredibly good year considering all of the fundraising and ongoing projects, along with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hilberg noted MacMaster’s efforts in the areas of community outreach, advocacy for the Oscoda Michigan Launch Initiative, campus beautification, maintaining good relationships with employees, and expansion of the video conferencing course delivery system.

She gave MacMaster five out of five stars for his efforts during the year.

MacMaster also received a step increase, taking his annual salary to $154,262. He also receives longevity pay and an expense account that takes his compensation package to $172,462, not including benefits.

MacMaster took over for former president Dr. Olin Joynton on July 1, 2015. He started his career with ACC in 1992.
