Someone who attended a stag party in Alpena County last weekend has tested positive for COVID-19.

The party was held Saturday night on Herron Road, between M-32 and Long Rapids Road.

District Health Department No. 4 officials have released the information so others at the party know they have the potential for exposure and can take precautions. Individuals at the party should monitor for COVID-19 symptoms for 14 days.

“This is a stark reminder that the virus is still circulating in Northern Michigan,” said Denise Bryan, Health Officer at DHD#4. “We need to continue to be vigilante and practice social distancing, wear masks, and be mindful that this is far from being over. Just because we have reopened does not mean we can relax our protective actions. Especially for our young adults, we are seeing increased numbers in 18-25 year olds in Michigan.”

Anyone who is self-monitoring should stay away from family, close contacts and roommates as much as possible. Those who develop symptoms within 14 days should contact their doctor and consider COVID-19 testing.
