DHD#4 offering business assistance in advance of holiday re-opening

District Health Department No.4 is offering restaurants, bars, and retail businesses that plan to reopen Friday both help and guidance as they navigate a safe return during the start of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Executive Order 2020-92 allows select businesses in the DHD#4 region to resume in-person work and offer onsite dining beginning Friday at 12:01 am. Businesses that choose to open must complete a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan and implement safeguards to protect workers from the virus.

DHD#4 has provided a template for the COVID-19 response plan that businesses can download and complete to satisfy the requirement. In addition, a coronavirus business toolkit is available that includes employee screening tools, workplace signs, and specific guidance for each business sector.

“This is an exciting step for our region that we have all been anticipating, especially as we look forward to the upcoming holiday weekend,” said Josh Meyerson, Medical Director. “Although there is a risk to anyone when they are in a public space, the highest risk of infection occurs when someone is in close contact with an infectious person for a significant amount of time. This is why businesses, employees, and customers must continue taking all necessary precautions to protect one another from the transmission of COVID-19 as they enjoy these public spaces again.”

The business tools are available on the DHD#4 website.
