  • AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Sites Service Suspended Until Further Notice Including ALL Local Sites: Alpena area, Hillman, Hale, Lincoln, Oscoda and East Tawas
  • In the interest of public health, the Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library will be closed to the public from Saturday, March 14 through Sunday, April 4.  Overdue fines will be suspended until the Library reopens. 
  • Alpena Boys and Girls Club closed
  • Alcona County Road Commission will be taking the necessary precautions to protect our employees and the publics’ health by closing our office located at 301 North Lake Street, Lincoln MI.  48742 to the public until further notice.   • Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary closed until further notice. 
  •  Mackinaw Area Public Library will be closing to the public effective March 16, 2020. This is being done to protect our staff and patrons from the possible spread of Covid-19. Reopening is scheduled for April 6, 2020 but is subject to further postponement.
  • The Charter Township of Alpena has implemented an appointment only service for our constituents. Our DPW and Fire Department being critical functions will continue to operate. All payments to the Township for any business need to be payed online, mailed, or placed in our drop box (please state to which department). We are implementing CDC and DHD4 protocols, and would appreciate the patience of our public. We all need to do our part in these unique times and separation seems to be the only thing that we can do to positively impact the continued spread of COVID-19. All services that we provide daily are still available; we just need our citizens to call 989.356.0297 in advance so that we can accommodate their needs.
  • The Presque Isle County Council on Aging centers–both Posen Senior Center and Onaway Senior Center–are closed for congregate meal services and all events including weekly bingos and daily exercise classes. 
  • The Alpena County Road Commission office will be closed to public until further notice due to the COVID-19. You can reach office staff by email at admin@alpcrc.org, call 354-3252 or fax 356-4952.
  • All offices of Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union will remain open to serve you by drive-thru only with extended hours of 8:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday thru Friday and Saturday from 8:30 am – noon. Please note that our member center lobbies will be accessible by appointment for special circumstances. You can make an appointment by calling your local credit union branch.
  • The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Alpena store will be closed until further notice.The emergency food will still be distributed as follows: Wednesday 3:PM to 5 PM,Thursday 12:00 to 2:30 PM. We will not be allowing people into the building for pick-up of food. It will be on a drive-up basis only. The food will all be prepackaged and brought out to you.
  • Friends Together support groups have been cancelled until further notice. If you need assistance or support please call 356-3231.
  • Calcite Credit Union, Straits Area Credit Union and Awakon Federal Credit Union lobbies will be closed to the public. Our Drive thru service will remain open for normal business hours. We apologize for any inconvenience, our main priority is to keep our employees and members safe.
  • Alcona Schools are delivering meals via our bus routes twice a week for children 0-18.  If families live in the district or county no matter if they attend Alcona or not, have them contact 736-6212 to be sure they are on the list.  We delivered 2000 meals last evening for families and want to be sure we are taking care of every family possible. 
  • The Alpena Library’s “In Conversation with Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha” scheduled for April 24th at Alpena High School will be postponed. A reschedule date has not been determined as of yet. 
  • Northland Area Federal Credit Union branch lobbies will be closed and we will continue serving members by drive-thru only. The Alpena lending office will also be closed to walk-in traffic.
  • Effective March 21st, the Mackinaw Bridge will not accept cash as payment. 
  • Cheboygan City Hall is closed until further notice.  As of now, City Hall will remain staffed and available to take phone calls, emails, and schedule necessary appointments.
  • Rogers City City Hall is closed until further notice.  
  • Marine Corps League Meeting in Alpena For March 25th has been cancelled. 
  • As of 4:30 p.m. today, Thursday, March 19, ACC will close the Alpena and Oscoda campuses to the public and students until further notice. This includes the Testing Center and the Library. Courses will continue to be offered remotely. Students should continue to regularly communicate with their instructors about course work, etc. Buildings will be locked and only designated essential personnel will be allowed. Access is being limited and monitored.
  •  Alpena County MSU Extension Office and Veterans Office will be closed to the public beginning immediately until April 20,2020.
  • Rogers City Knights of Columbus  BINGO 3/26 is cancelled
  • All Non-Essential Offices will be closed as of March 24, 2020 until further notice in accordance with Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order No. 2020-21 issued March 23, 2020. If you need services from Alpena County please contact individual offices by phone, email or fax ONLY!
  • Immanuel Lutheran Church is cancelling all “in-person” worship services, Bible studies, and meetings for the duration of the Governor’s “stay home” directive. Services will be livestreamed via our facebook page at 6:30pm on Wednesday and 9:30am on Sunday morning.
