Fairview man killed in sawmill accident

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OSCODA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE:

On February 13, 2020 at approximately 9:17 a.m., the Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office received an E911 call of a male subject who was involved in a lumberyard/sawmill accident at a business in the 700 bock of E. Miller Road of Comins Township, Oscoda County.

Sheriff’s Deputies and Oscoda County EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene assisting to help free 59 year-old Lyle Troyer of Fairview from a debarking machine, at which time EMS staff took over but were unsuccessful in reviving Troyer, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The matter remains under investigation at this time pending the results of an autopsy.
