A 40 year-old man from Alpena will be sentenced in March on several drug charges and a single count of witness intimidation.

Carl Dale Standen has pleaded guilty to selling the prescription drug Xanax, an imitation form of LSD, maintaining a drug house and witness intimidation or bribery.

Standen admitted that he sold the drugs out of his residence on Washington Avenue, and that others also sold drugs out of the house and consumed drugs inside the home.

He also admitted that while on bond, he contacted a female he thought was a confidential informant for police and intimidated the woman in an effort to dissuade her from testifying against him.

The crimes were committed between May and October 2019.

As part of a plea deal, two other drug charges were dismissed, including delivery or manufacture of methamphetamine. Another count of obstruction of justice was also dismissed; and the sentences on the witness intimidation and drug charges will not be served consecutively, or one after the other.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 2.
