The League of Women Voters of Northeast Michigan will be hosting three public forums in Alpena to discuss changes in voting procedures, the 2020 Census, and the League’s 100th anniversary.

During the first town hall style meeting, “Making Democracy Work,” information will be presented on Michigan’s new voting rights, the Citizens Redistricting Commission, and the 2020 Census.

It is being held inside Room 106 of the Newport Center at Alpena Community College on Wednesday, January 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The second meeting will be an educational forum celebrating the National League’s 100th birthday with a national call to action. The “Women Power the Vote Day of Action” will be inside the public library in downtown on Friday, February 14, from 1 to 3 p.m.

And the Census 2020 will be the main focus of the third forum, which is also being held inside the library, on February 19, starting at 7 p.m.

The League of Women Voters encourages the public to attend the forums in preparation for the March 10 presidential primary.
