A new artistic director has been hired for the Thunder Bay Theatre in Alpena.

The board of directors for the theatre have announced that Lucas Moquin has been hired for the position.

Moquin, a repeat performing artist and choreographer, has been with the theatre for approximately four years. He told True North Radio Network he is excited about his new position.

“I feel very grateful to have been able to share my talents with the community over the past four years and I am very much looking forward to continuing the legacy of Thunder Bay Theatre and bringing my own artistic vision for TBT that builds on the theatre’s success and continues to make it a vital, celebrated, and authentic part of people’s lives in Northeast Michigan,” Moquin said.

Moquin’s first task as artistic director is to coordinate the theatre’s 2020 season and begin casting.

Moquin replaces former artistic director Jeffery Mindock. Many people in the community were surprised when the board of directors announced in November 2019, that Mindock and the board were parting ways “under mutually agreed upon terms.”
