Four candidates for the judicial vacancy of the 26th Circuit Court of Alpena and Montmorency counties interviewed for the bench this week.

Alpena County Prosecutor Ed Black and attorneys Lora Greene and Joel Bauer interviewed for the seat.

The fourth candidate is unknown.

Interviews were held in Lansing Tuesday, before the State Bar’s Judicial Qualifications Committee. A candidate or candidates will now be selected for further consideration by the Governor’s office before Governor Whitmer fills the vacancy by appointment.

The time frame for that process is not known. Calls to the Governor’s office were not immediately returned.

The appointment will fill a partial term, which expires at the end of the year. The vacancy was created upon the retirement of Judge Michael Mack.
