DNR land auction includes parcels from Alpena, Cheboygan & Iosco counties

The Department of Natural Resources is holding another land auction, which includes parcels from three counties in northeast Michigan.

The sealed bid auction starts Tuesday and features 147 individual parcels from across the state, ranging in size from less than an acre to 160 acres.

The auction is part of the DNR’s strategy to efficiently manage public land while maximizing outdoor recreation opportunities for residents and visitors. Bids will be accepted through January 8, 2020.

The auction includes two parcel in Alpena County – one for 40 acres and the other for 160 acres; six parcels in Cheboygan County – the largest being 6.5 acres; and one small lot in Iosco County’s Plainfield Township.

Bids must be postmarked by midnight Wednesday, January 8, and will be opened Wednesday, January 22.

Proceeds from the land auction will help provide future outdoor recreation opportunities in keeping with the DNR’s mission to conserve, protect and manage the state’s natural and cultural resources for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations.
