An open-line 911 call may have saved a woman’s life and put a Cheboygan man behind bars.

The Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence in Benton Township Monday after dispatchers answered the phone call and heard a woman crying and a man’s voice threatening to kill her.

Joshua Adam Hendrix, 33, was arrested after deputies arrived and gained entry in to the home.

It is alleged that Hendrix physically harmed and threatened the victim with a gun.

“Fortunately the victim in this case was able to get the 911 call through and leave the line open which provided law enforcement valuable information on what was taking place prior to arriving on scene,” said Cheboygan undersheriff Tim Cook.

The victim did seek medical attention.

Hendrix was charged with 2 counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, 3 counts of felonious assault, and 3 counts of felony firearm. He was arraigned on the charges with bond set at $250,000. He will appear in court next Wednesday.
