The average price for gasoline in Michigan is down slightly over the week.

AAA says the new statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is about $2.46, down 6 cents.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA found the cheapest price for gas in Jackson where motorists are paying $2.35 per gallon. The most expensive price of $2.57 was found in Marquette.

Drivers in the Alpena area were paying an average of about $2.36 per gallon early Tuesday morning, down 9 cents from one week ago. However, at least one station is charging $2.69 per gallon, a sign that other stations may be raising prices as well.
