Alpena County Regional Airport has officially topped 10,000 enplanements for the year.

That means the airport will be eligible to receive up to a $1 million subsidy through the federal government’s Essential Air Service (EAS) program.

A total of 1,240 enplanements were counted in October, an increase of approximately 15.9 percent from October 2018. That pushed the year to date total to 10,373, up 11.2 percent from the first 10 months of 2018.

It took until November for the airport to reach 10,000 enplanements last year.

Small airports that fall short of 10,000 enplanements annually qualify for up to a $150,000 federal subsidy.
