It’s National Apprenticeship Week in the City of Alpena.

The 5th annual national celebration raises awareness of the vital role apprenticeships provide in creating a qualified and highly-skilled workforce in diverse industries across the nation.

The city’s proclamation states that “Alpena recognizes that robust apprenticeship programs provide tangible value to both job creators and apprentices; with the potential to increase productivity, improve diversity and inclusion, and reduce recruitment and training costs while providing a pathway to prosperous careers for job seekers.”

Mayor Matt Waligora urges anyone interested in learning more about apprenticeship opportunities to seek guidance from Nichole Keyes, Apprenticeship Success Coordinator at the Michigan Works! office on Chisholm Street.
