Salvation Army/Walmart toy drive

An annual toy drive by The Salvation Army and Walmart will bring holiday cheer to approximately 300 children in the Alpena area.

This Saturday, residents can help the cause by donating a toy for a child in need.

Salvation Army volunteers will be stationed in front of Walmart, handing out lists of suggested toys to purchase.

“Every year we are honored to partner with this generous community in order to bring joy to area children Christmas morning,” said Captain Amy Cedervall of The Salvation Army. “The public’s generosity helps The Salvation Army provide about 300 children with Christmas toys they would not receive otherwise.”

Volunteers at Walmart will also collect donated toys. Santa Claus will also make a special visit to the store.

Walmart and The Salvation Army have collaborated for more than 30 years to meet local community needs. All toys given to The Salvation Army in Alpena will remain in the community.
