The Salvation Army is gearing up for the holiday seasons by searching for bell ringers in the Alpena area.

Funds collected during the annual Red Kettle campaign help support local, year-round Salvation Army programs and services.

The Salvation Army is seeking enthusiastic individuals, families and groups who want to donate their time ringing bells at storefronts, starting in November and continuing through Christmas Eve.

Volunteers can register for available shifts at The Salvation Army offices on N. 2nd Ave., Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

“Volunteer bell ringers are the lifeblood of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle fundraising campaign,” said Captain Amy Cedervall. “Recruiting new volunteers as well as welcoming returning bell ringers will allow our organization to continue providing critical programs and services to those in need within our community.”

Volunteers must be able to stand for long periods of time in cold weather.
