A convicted sex offender from northeast Michigan will remain in prison for the next approximate 28 to 48 years.

The Michigan Supreme Court has denied an application for leave to appeal a Court of Appeals order from 40 year-old Brian Lee Anspaugh of Oscoda County.

Anspaugh was sentenced to 30 to 50 years behind bars in January 2018, for the 2014 sexual assault of a relative. He is also serving time on a second-degree arson charge.

The Supreme Court denied Anspaugh’s application for leave to appeal “..because we are not persuaded that the question presented should be reviewed by this Court.”

Anspaugh is serving his sentence at Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility in Ionia.
