MI gas prices higher, but slowly coming down

Gas prices in Michigan started coming down late last week, after jumping up 22 cents a gallon at one point, following a drone and missile attack at two key oil installations in Saudi Arabia.

AAA says the current statewide average price for a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gas is about $2.74, up 17 cents over the week.

The average price reached as high as $2.78 per gallon before slowly coming down.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA found the most expensive gas in Ann Arbor where it’s about $2.80 per gallon. The cheapest price of $2.63 was found in Traverse City.

Drivers in the Alpena area were paying an average of about $2.61a gallon early Tuesday morning, down 18 cents from one week ago.
