Three City of Alpena firefighters were officially promoted to new positions Monday, and a new member of the team was sworn in.

Captain Rob Edmonds is the new Deputy Chief and training officer, taking over for Bob Adrian who retired last week after 36 years of service.

In addition to being second in command to Fire Chief Bill Forbush, Edmonds will coordinate all fire and EMS training for the department. He is a graduate of the Eastern Michigan University School of Fire Staff and Command.

Also during Monday’s ceremony, Lieutenant Tim Slosser was promoted to captain, and firefighter-paramedic Brett Miller to lieutenant.

And Todd Adrian was sworn in as a new firefighter-paramedic. Todd is Bob’s son and a third generation public servant for Alpena, following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps.
