Young women and girls from across Michigan will be competing for the titles of Miss Sunrise Side and Miss Sunrise Side’s Outstanding Teen this weekend.

The pageants are being held inside Alcona High School in Lincoln Saturday.

Ten young women ranging from 17 to 25 years-old will compete for the Miss Sunrise Side title. And six girls between 13 and 17 years-old will take part in the teen competition. Pageant officials no longer release the hometowns of contestants due to safety concerns. However, they say of the 16 contestants, six are from northern Michigan, three from the Bay City area and seven from southern Michigan.

The pageants are being held Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $15 per person. Students who show their school ID will get in for $10.

In addition to earning the chance to compete for the title of Miss Michigan in June 2020, the winner of the Miss Sunrise Side will receive a $1,000 scholarship, $4,000 Alpena Community College scholarship and other prizes. First runner-up receives $750.

Miss Michigan Mallory Rivard will be on hand for this year’s competitions.
