A 49 year-old Alpena man who claims he was too high to remember what happened, has pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a child.

In court Monday, it was revealed that Scott Timothy Wright sexually assaulted a female relative in May or June 2018, who was sleeping at the time and was awaken by the assault. The little girl was 9 or 10 years-old at the time.

The victim told a teacher at school about the incident.

Wright’s attorney said his client was pleading no contest because he was a chronic marijuana user and does not remember what happened.

As part of a settlement agreement, Wright will receive no less than 15 years in prison on a single count of criminal sexual conduct first degree, a plea deal the victim’s family agreed to. He will also be sentenced as a habitual 4th offender.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 7.
