Another county fair gets underway in northeast Michigan this week.

A flag raising and opening ceremony for the Alcona County Fair will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Alcona Recreation Area (ARA) site in Lincoln.

The carnival opens at 2 p.m. and a parade will be held at 5 p.m. A birthday party for Smokey the Bear starts at 6 p.m. with a free ice cream social.

Other popular activities throughout the week include a draft horse pull, a monster truck event, free laser tag, a youth horse show and more. The Alcona Junior Livestock Club market sale will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The fair wraps up Saturday evening with a bump and run at 7 p.m. There will be motocross races and a horse show earlier in the day, along with a flap jack eating contest, pinewood derby races and a horse speed show.
