Crews for the City of Alpena will be completing some additional utility work Wednesday, causing a disruption in water service for some residents living in the work area.

The intersection of Parson Street and First Avenue will be closed to all traffic to complete the repairs.

Water will be shut off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to residents on Ripley Boulevard, from Mason Street to First Avenue; LaForest Street, from Ripley to Oliver Street; First Avenue, from Ripley to Sheridan Street; First, from Ripley to Bingham Street; and Parson Street, from the dead end to Clinton Street.

When water is restored, residents should flush the taps in their homes until water runs clear. Property owners will be notified if a water boil notice is required.

Signage and barricades will be present to guide traffic around the construction site.

The work will be completed on Wednesday unless there are weather or construction delays, however, temporary closures will occur over the next two weeks to complete street repairs.
