The City of Alpena is reminding residents they can pay their property taxes from the convenience of their home.

Beginning Monday, tax payments can be made online or by telephone using a debit or credit card.

The services have been offered over the past few years.

There is a 3-percent convenience fee with a $2 minimum charge for all payments. American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa are accepted.

To pay online, visit the city’s website and click on “tax payments”. To pay by phone, call 844-400-3553. Both options are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Taxpayers will need a parcel number.

Tax payments are also accepted in person, at no cost, at the clerk’s office inside City Hall, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions call 354-1720.
