The Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office made a couple of arrests for drunk driving over the week, and responded to calls for a bear, animal neglect, domestic violence and more.

The animal neglect call came in from Briley Township last Monday. No details of the investigation were released.

That same day deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on County Road 491 in Albert Township. A male and a female were taken to the hospital in Gaylord with minor injuries.

A deputy was sent to a residence last Thursday after the homeowner reported a bear close to their house. The bear was gone by the time the deputy arrived.

Police pulled a vehicle over on M-33, near M-32 Friday night, after a passerby reported that a man had assaulted a woman on the side of the road. The couple denied any altercation, however the man was arrested for drunk driving.

A male suspect was arrested Saturday following a domestic dispute in Rust Township. A male was arrested on an outstanding warrant Sunday, following another domestic dispute. That same night a deputy responded to a complaint of a wallet stolen out of a vehicle at A-Win-Sands Motel in Atlanta. That investigation is ongoing.
