The average price of gas in Michigan continued its up and down trend last week.

AAA says the average price of fuel jumped up 14 cents a gallon last Wednesday before settling back down to Tuesday’s average of about $2.70, up 7 cents over the week.

Despite the increase, drivers are still paying about 20 cents less than this time last year.

Of the stations it surveys, AAA found the most expensive gas in Marquette where it’s $2.74 per gallon. The cheapest price of $2.60 was found in Jackson.

As of early Tuesday morning, motorists in the Alpena area were paying an average price of about $2.59 a gallon, up 20 cents from one week ago. At least one station, however, raised its price to $2.89 a gallon.
