Gas prices in Michigan continue to decline.

AAA says the new statewide average price for a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is about $2.63, down 12 cents over the week.

Of the stations surveyed by AAA, the cheapest price for gas was found in Grand Rapids where it’s about $2.49 per gallon. The highest price of $2.74 was found in Marquette.

“As the summer driving season gets underway, increased gas stocks will help to supply high demand and keep prices low,” said Adrienne Woodland, a spokesperson for AAA.

As of early Tuesday morning, drivers in the Alpena area were paying an average of about $2.39 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, down 20 cents from one week ago. At least one station, however, raised its price to $2.79 a gallon during the overnight hours.

A check of AAA prices this morning shows they continue to fall.
